Regenerative braking is a braking system that can recapture much of the truck’s kinetic energy during deceleration or changes in direction. By reversing direction, an AC motor acts as a generator that converts motion into electricity, so that it can be used to recharge the batteries. This process prolongs the run-time of a lift battery and allows for more up-time while the truck is in operation. This system is available on all Stärke electric 3 and 4 wheel counterbalance forklifts and in many of our LiftMaxx industrial lifts.

A significant reduction in brake wear is another reason to look for regenerative braking on your electric truck. This technology works in such a way where the electric motor of the forklift is used to slow down the truck when the operator backs off on the accelerator to slow down or during a direction change. Since this process reduces the friction and heat produced by the braking system, regenerative braking systems also reduce the wear and tear on the braking system as well.
